Description
Against the backdrop of the blue sky and sea, the whitewashed stone building stands out amidst ancient silver olive groves, among which lies a magnificent irregularly-shaped pool surrounded by rocks and plants. The Masseria San Domenico lies a few hundred meters from the sea on the coast between Bari and Brindisi. It is one of the oldest fortified watchtowers built in the XV century, belonged to knights of the Malta order. After a careful restoration, completed respecting the old shapes and the original building materials, it was converted in 1996 into a deluxe resort, at the same time private and with a warm and comfortable welcoming.

Rooms and suites are distributed in two buildings, that face the swimming pool or the olive grove. All rooms have refined furniture and feature TV-sat, direct dial telephone, mini bar, safe, hairdryer and air conditioning.

The centrepiece of the hotel is undoubtedly the magnificent irregularly shaped swimming pool surrounded by rocks and plants, which stands amidst 100 hectares of olive groves and orchards. The pool is filled with naturally filtered seawater, reflecting the philosophy of the hotel’s brand new Thalassotherapy Spa. In fact, the Thalassotherapy centre of Masseria San Domenico is one of the best in Italy. Here, guests can select a wide range of treatments using the rich seaweed and sea water found in the nearby Adriatic Sea including massages, facials and Balneotherapy. Among the most popular treatment are the “Douche D’Evian” or “Doccia d’Effusione”, a relaxing four-hands massage with sea extract essential oils, and the “Thalatherm”, during which the body is covered with a layer of sea mud and then treated with a steam bath for about 15 minutes: a real remedy for the blood flow. San Domenico Restaurant, with its high arched vaults, is renowned, both locally and internationally, for its exquisite food, especially for seafood and for the selection of fine local wines. Guests can have breakfast in “Sala Fico” while during Summer the Pool Grill serves a daily regional buffet lunch with vegetables, pizza, cheese and typical Puglia recipes. The restaurant offers to the guests who wish to combine Thalassotherapy treatments with a dietary meal a special low-calories menu (usually with fish). The hotel has a private beach, a bike path among century-old olive trees, two tennis courts, gym, sauna and Turkish bath. New 18 holes golf course, “San Domenico Golf”, it is a par 72 (6300 mt). It was designed by the famous English Architects of the “European Golf Design”.
